VAT obligations extended for South Korea
11th July 2019: VAT obligations have been extended on digital services as of July 2019 for South Korea.
South Korea plans to extend the VAT obligations on digital services for non-residents as of 1 July 2019.
Foreign providers of the following services will need to be compliant with the new regulations:
- Intermediaries of peer-to-peer services;
- Cloud computing;
- Online advertising
There is a simplified e-services VAT registration regime that can be used by the providers. This regime only allows for the declaration of tax outputs.
