VAT obligations extended for South Korea

South Korea plans to extend the VAT obligations on digital services for non-residents as of 1 July 2019.

Foreign providers of the following services will need to be compliant with the new regulations:

  1. Intermediaries of peer-to-peer services;
  2. Cloud computing;
  3. Online advertising

There is a simplified e-services VAT registration regime that can be used by the providers. This regime only allows for the declaration of tax outputs.
